I listened to the Lynda.com tutorial, "IOS 7: iPhone and iPad Essential Training", by Garrick Chow.  It took a while but was well worth it!  I especially liked the Essentials of Typing section.  Here are a few things I didn't know.

Characters are not entered until you release your fingers from the keyboard.  That means if you tap the wrong letter, you can slide to the correct letter before releasing your finger!

You can access the character keys by touching the character's button and sliding your finger to the character you want.  That way, you remain in the letter keyboard and can continue typing without having to change keyboards!

I'm still single finger typing, but would like to learn to type with both thumbs!
